Our group is investigating the effect of surgical manipulation in a transgenic murine model of pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
We use the KRAS model; the most accepted animal model to study this lethal illness, as it follows the histological preneoplasic sequence of PaNIN in the same way as it is known to happen in humans.
We produce a distal pancreatic ligation of the main and secondary pancreatic ducts, in order to observe the impact of exocrine pancreatic atrophy in the predictable evolution of these preneoplasic lesions, for a future possible inference of therapeutical actions in humans at an early stage of the disease.
